Muscle Contraction is Everything :: Phil Heath Shows You Why

So long as you are getting the contraction and the muscle you are working is actually ‘firing’, you know that an exercise is working.

I’ve preached many times before, that if you are working your triceps or chest and your not feeling the burn (from lactic acid) in that muscle, then your technique is wrong. Or it could mean that you are using a weight that is too heavy.

Weight training does not imply lifting the heaviest weights in the gym. You are weight training to build lean muscle, not to strain your joints. Unfortunately, this is what most guys are doing when they enter the gym.

Forget your ego. Dismiss what the guy next to you is doing. Focus on yourself.

Building muscle takes brains, the weight you use is secondary.
